Indic Orators Club

Vision
To nurture confident, articulate, and persuasive legal professionals by developing the art of oratory, critical thinking, and public speaking rooted in the Indian legal and cultural tradition.
Objectives
  • To train students in legal oratory and courtroom advocacy.
  • To build confidence in public speaking, debate, and articulation.
  • To decode and discuss laws, judgments, and policies through speeches.
  • To connect modern advocacy skills with Indic traditions of debate (Shastrarth).
  • To prepare students for moot courts, client counseling, ADR, and real-world advocacy.
Activities of the Club
  • The Indic Orators Club will hold bi-monthly meetings (twice every month). Each meeting will be structured as follows:
  • Opening Speech – A member delivers a 5-minute legal or social address.
  • Case Commentary – Short presentation on a landmark judgment or current legal issue.
  • Debate / Extempore – Members participate in debates or spontaneous speaking rounds.
  • Feedback & Reflection – Faculty and peers provide constructive feedback to improve delivery.
Structure & Roles
  • Club President / Moderator (1) – Conducts the session, ensures discipline.
  • Timekeeper (1) – Keeps track of speaking time.
  • Evaluator (1–2) – Gives structured feedback.
  • Legal Maxim Role (1) – Shares a shloka or maxim at start/end.
  • Prepared Speakers (2) – Deliver pre-decided orations.
  • Impromptu Speakers (3–4) – Speak on surprise topics.
